Passive Ability: Misaligned Aura

Ralph is a citizen through & through but if Ralph is investigated, he appears as a Shadow Council member or Ravager (whichever is more beneficial based on the Architect’s discretion). He suffers the same negative effects as the evil team when roles or effects target them specifically. However, he also benefits from any boons granted to evil players, i.e. Brewski’s drunk effect.

Tips & Tricks – Playing as Rough Around the Edges Ralph

Tell everyone that you are Rough Ralph as soon as possible! This way, much of the Isleborn misinformation can be accounted for—especially from roles like the Maid, Frostbite Hunter, or Data. Characters that rely on targeted readings, such as the Warden of Leão or the Mourning Dove, will know not to choose you. However, if the group knows you’re Ralph, they may want to banish you anyway just to be safe.

Alternatively, stay silent about your role until the final day. If you can figure out which other players are Chaotic Influencers, or which characters you’ve been falsely registering to (hopefully not many), you might be able to convince the group that you’re just one of them. Since the good team often considers eliminating Ralph, even though it doesn’t help their win condition, surviving as long as possible can be the smartest move.

Remember: You are a good-aligned Citizen and are therefore almost always a worse banishment choice than any actual evil player. Ralph may even register as evil after death, meaning the Coroner won’t get reliable information about your role.

You will usually register as evil—be suspicious of anyone who says otherwise. If you’re seated next to a Frostbite Hunter who claims both neighbors are good, or if a Warden of Leão says you’re not the Ravager, there’s a good chance they’re lying—or worse, working with the Shadows. Similarly, if someone says they investigated you and found you to be evil, they’re probably telling the truth about what they saw, even if you know it’s not your actual alignment.

Don’t get mauled by the Werelion! If the Werelion chooses to attack you, they’ll likely think you’re the Ravager—this could make it look like an Evil Heir is still in play. This misdirection isn't helpful to your team and should be avoided when possible. Likewise, if you’re executed, the Coroner will usually learn you were part of the Shadow Council or the Ravager—confusing the Isleborn team even more.

Registering as evil can sometimes work in your favor. Players who claim you’re evil can often be trusted informants, and early information from roles like the Maid or Frostbite Hunter might help you triangulate real threats—if you can convince others you're not the enemy.

If players are extremely suspicious of you and are dead set on your banishment, it’s often better to accept your fate before the final day. You can even vote for yourself to help it along. If everyone thinks you’re evil, then dying before the final day helps confirm that you’re not the Ravager—and it turns attention to actual threats. Dying on the second-to-last day is safe. Dying on the final day ends the game for you and possibly loses the game for the Citizens.

Bluffing as Rough Around the Edges Ralph

If you're pretending to be Rough Ralph, keep these points in mind:

  • You never wake, learn anything, or act during the day or night.

  • "I'm not evil—I just look that way." Since Ralph registers as evil, it's a great cover if you're a true Shadow trying to avoid heat from the Frostbite Hunter, Warden of Leão, or Data.

  • Be as helpful to the Isleborn team as possible. Tell them early that you’re Ralph and actively help track down real evil players. If they believe you, they’ll keep you alive—even if your presence messes with alignment checks.

  • Use Ralph as a backup bluff—or keep your role hidden for a few rounds. You can later say you stayed quiet to confuse the Shadows, or to allow alignment-checking roles to get unbiased reads.

  • Since Ralph continues to register as evil even after death, this bluff can persist beyond the grave. If the Coroner or Mourning Dove checks your body, they’ll still see "evil." Insisting that a real Minion or Ravager is still alive can help sow further confusion.

  • Knowing that you register as evil gives players something to anchor onto. But be careful: roles like the Maid may use you as a reference point for locating other evil players. If you’re sitting next to the actual Ravager, consider staying quiet for a bit to see what people say before you reveal your claim.

  • Claiming to be a Chaotic Influencer can hide the presence of a Glitch, and may imply the presence of The Draftsman—throwing off role counts and keeping the Shadows guessing.
