Runeheart

$0.00

Special Ability: Runes of Preservation

Each night, choose one player to receive a protective rune.

Players bearing your runes cannot be eliminated at night while you remain alive and successfully channeling your magic.

You may maintain up to 5 active runes at a time. If a sixth rune would be placed, the oldest rune fades.

If you are affected by a disruptive status effect, including manipulated, delirious, drunk, stupefied, frozen, silenced, or any similar interference, then:

  • the rune you attempt to place that night fails

  • all existing runes become inactive for that night

The pre-existing runes reactivate the following night if you recover and successfully channeling your magic but the rune you placed will never ignite.

Passive Ability: Heart Collapse

Runeheart cannot be protected from night eliminations.

If Runeheart is eliminated, banished, or otherwise removed from play, all living Isleborn Citizens are immediately eliminated.

This includes:

  • Informants

  • Protectors

  • Specialists

  • Chaotic Influencers

  • any role currently aligned with the Isleborn Citizens

Unbound, Wanderers, Shadow Council Members, and Ravagers are unaffected unless currently aligned with the Isleborn Citizens.

Game Impact & Strategic Tips

  • Runeheart creates a growing network of hidden protection that becomes stronger over time. The Ravager may struggle to secure eliminations once multiple runes are active.

  • Disruptive status effects become devastating counters against Runeheart, creating “breach nights” where all protections fail simultaneously.

  • Runeheart cannot be protected from night eliminations, making them highly vulnerable once identified.

  • Runeheart players must carefully decide whether to reveal themselves publicly. Revealing too early paints a target on them, but staying hidden risks accidental banishment.

  • Runeheart may unintentionally protect Ravagers, Shadow Council Members, or dangerous Unbound roles.

  • The role creates extreme social pressure during nominations. Is the player begging to survive truly Runeheart, or are they bluffing to avoid elimination?

  • The role rewards timing, secrecy, manipulation, political influence, and careful social navigation more than direct confrontation or raw protection.

Backstory & Lore

Deep beneath Frostpeak’s ancient temples lies the Heartwell, a living reservoir of arcane energy said to pulse beneath the mountains themselves. Long ago, its guardians discovered that fragments of this magic could be carved into protective runes capable of shielding entire bloodlines from death.

But the magic demanded balance.

The one who channels the Heartwell cannot merely cast the runes, they must become the living core sustaining them. Every rune tied to another soul binds itself directly to the Runeheart’s spirit, weaving the fate of the city into their own life force.

As the network grows, so too does the burden.

When a Runeheart falters, the runes dim.
When a Runeheart breaks, the protection shatters all at once.

Many believe Frostpeak survives only because somewhere, hidden among the people, a Runeheart still endures.

Personality & Traits

  • Calm under pressure

  • Emotionally burdened

  • Protective yet secretive

  • Wise beyond their years

  • Deeply empathetic

  • Carries the weight of others silently

  • Distrustful of reckless decisions

  • Speaks carefully, especially when threatened

  • Often torn between revealing the truth or remaining hidden

  • Feels personally responsible for every life connected to their runes
